Welcome to bitesizecooking.com! Whilst the name might suggest cookingsmall bitesize pieces of food, it's not. Bitesizecooking.com is abou tbreaking the art and skill of cooking into bitesize pieces so they're easier to grasp and ultimately piece together. As a high school cooking teacher, I know that the best way to become a good cook is to learn these basics first. So, with every piece of content I add to this siteI keep two fundamental aspects in mind - I imagine everyone is five years old, and blonde. And I don't mean that in a derogitory sense, so please don't take offense. I mean that I try to simplify things as much as possible so even someone who has never cooked before can grasp it. In doing this, I am sure to bring everything down to absolute fundamentals, ensuring anyone who comes to the site will leave feeling more confident about their cooking ability... more.
BSC Radio
BiteSize Cooking® Radio Segments launched nationally on regional radio in December 2005 with a Christmas Cooking series. The segments have been running successfully ever since and air nationally on over 50 regional stations, and they took the honours for Australia's Best Radio Food Segment at the prestigious 2006 Australia Food Media Awards.
Each 45 second vignette contains simple, interesting and useful hints and tips about cooking, ingredients, health, lifestyle, diet and nutrition, plus a little food history and trivia for fun.

BSC Television
BiteSize Cooking® TV Segments were a regular feature every Friday on the SUSIE Show which was broadcast across the WIN National Television Network, reaching across six states of Australia - including three capital cities and the nation's capital through its 26 wholly owned and operated television stations including Channel Nine in Adelaide and Perth. Each segment is between 5 and 10 minutes in length, depending on the demonstration topic.
In the segment Victoria demonstrated the fundamentals of food preparation and cooking, concentrating heavily on the techniques, skills and recipes that are the foundations of cooking. She broke food preparation and cooking into its most fundamental elements and literally educates the audience on the "how to's" that are often neglected by celebrity chef's...more.

Search Recipes
BiteSize Cooking's recipes have all been tested and are guaranteed to work. The emphasis on the recipes is base recipes with variations, which is to say, we give you the absolute core fundamental recipe and then show you how to vary that to create a multitude of versions. Once you know the base recipe, the rest is only limited to your imagination. Of course, there are other recipes as well, because some have a character all of their own.
Learn About Ingredients
Almost all the base ingredients used in most kitchens throughout the western world at least, and a good majority of other cultures, are on bitesizecooking.com. Filed under their respective categories, there'll be few ingredients you won't find, and if you can't find one, please let us know and we'll add it. each ingredient page displays an image, history, nutritive value, how to buy store and prepare it, how to cook it and what it's used for.

Listen to Podcasts
We produce many audio podcasts. Some short collections of hints and tips called vignettes, some interviews with experts about ingredients or recipes, and some discussion style interviews about all sorts of food and cooking related topics. We also talk to manufactures and distributors about their products and services and provide you with the information in the form of a podcast. Some podcasts, like the vignettes are free as long as you're a registered member (FREE to JOIN ), and others will be available to subscribers as soon as we launch our subscription services. Stay tuned for that.
Watch Videos
In the not too distant future, every skill and technique and every base recipe will have an accompanying demonstration video. You'll be able to read a recipe, and when the instruction says "julienne the carrot", when you mouse over the word julienne, a little demonstration video will appear to show you how it's done. These videos are in production now and will be launched in 2010. You'll also be able to watch how to make all the base recipes on the site. Videos will be available to subscribing members. Tune into Our Online Show
Bitesizecooking.com will be launching it's online show in 2010. Each show will be around 20 minutes in length and will cover all aspects of the fundamentals of food preparation and cooking. You'll be able to subscribe to them and watch them when you have the time and inclination. Stay tuned for this too.
