Chocolate Sauce
This sauce is very simple yet delicious. It will keep in the fridge for several weeks. It will set firm when refrigerated and just needs to be bought back to room temperature to serve. It can also be heated in a microwave or in a saucepan and served hot. Great over cakes, puddings, pannacotta, fruit, meringue, ice cream or made into hot chocolate with the addition of hot milk.
Ingredients
- 60g chocolate (dark, milk or white)
- ½ cup pure cream
- 1 Tbsp of your favourite liqueur or brandy (optional)
Method
- Grate or chop the chocolate and add to the cream in a saucepan.
- Gently heat and stir constantly till chocolate melts and begins to boil.
- Simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Add the liqueur or brandy at this time.
- Serve either hot or cold over chocolate cake or pudding, with cream desserts, sweet souffle omelettes, over ice cream or as a dipping sauce for fresh fruits.
